"Me
familia," albeit, not even a quarter of us are in this pic! I have a funny
story about my parents and brother and sisters. My dad pastored many churches
all over the U.S. (Yes, I'm a P.K.--probably why I am a bit of a rebel.).
Anyway, when I was fifteen, he was called to pastor in Brooklyn, NY. The
culture shock was quite memorable, to say the least, transplanting from
California. When we a
rrived, though, we found that
we were living smack dab in the middle of Mafia town in the suburb of Bensonhurst.
The neighbors all thought we were all Italian, because of our dark hair and
eyes, but we are mostly German, Scandinavian, and Dutch! They must have been
convinced, though, because they always treated us with great respect and
actually looked out for us and our church, even calling my dad, "Father
Fore," since they were all Catholic. I would never trade those five years
of my life! Bethcha' didn't know that I could talk a New York accent with the
best of em'! I am really bummed that I lost it! The experience left me with
some of the most amazing memories of my life. Got some pretty fantastic
stories, to boot! My dad led many of those Italian (and many nationalities)
people to Christ, and they are some of his most loyal friends still to this
day, and, MAN, can they cook! You have never tasted such Italian cuisine! For
those of you from Metropolitan Baptist reading this, I love all of yous, every
color and creed! Thanks for the memories!!!
